This stone is perfect for getting my knives sharp. It gives the perfect all round useful edge. Not razor edge and seriously you really dont need that kind of edge for skinning or general use.

If you use a standard oil or water block type stone and are used to them and are consistent at holding the correct angle, by all means stick with them.
