Toastess Sandwich Grill, Stainless Steel

Awesome
This sandwich maker is awesome, I haven't used it much since I bought it but its there in case it is ever needed, cooks a grilled cheese in like 2 minutes easy, I'm thinking about making one right now.

piece of junk
worth ten dollars in a dollar store. overpriced piece of junk, burns everything. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. avoid avoid.

Works great, no griddle lines
We've been using ours on and off for four years. Works perfectly. Easy to clean. I like that it doesn't have the ridged surface which makes griddle lines. It was hard to find a smooth surface. This one is great.

Chef?s Choice 835-SE PizzellePro Express Bake Pizzelle Maker

Easy and good pizelle maker
This Pizelle Maker is great for a quick and easy cookie dessert. I had read many reviews of all the different types and brands. This one I like, as you can store it easy, there is no long handle which takes space away.
Although used to the swiss pizelle iron which is a great material quality (and they cost here in the US around $300.00), this iron is just as good for once in a while pizelle baking. I used a swiss pizelle recipe which makes a thicker dough, you roll little balls and then just bake. I had abit a hard time with the timing, when exactly the cookies were done, so I just lifted the lid and checked. All in all I am happy with this pizelle maker. I am baking this year Valentines pizelles, Vanilla, Chocolate and Pink!

Love it
Just the right size for my Christmas goodie plates. Love the little spoon it comes with to make sure you get the right amount of dough for each one.

Adequate
It worked okay. With the 3 maker unit, it was difficult to achieve nicely shaped pizzelles. I do prefer a two pizzelle maker better. The recipe I used calls for a large amount of butter and it would spit out around the edges. Not sure if the recipe was the cause or if the product couldn't contain it well. Will try another recipe in the future and see what happens.

B&D 4 Slice Toaster Oven

B&D Space Saver Toaster Oven
I purchased this product to replace a broken B&D Space Saver Toaster Oven. The original lasted many years and it was used almost daily. So I have no real complaints with the original. The new one I purchased I do like so far. I didn't give it a perfect review because of a couple reasons. Pro: Looks Great, works well, digital display and timer is electronic. Con: No baking tray, metal used to make product is of a lighter gauge from prior products(A little flimsy), mounting(May be difficult for the less mechanically inclined which may mean extra cost to purchaser)

I would like to add as a Pro: packaging arrived clean and product was packed with care. Product also arrived faster than indicated when ordered.

Great for under cabinet mounting Toaster Oven
unit installation is fairly easy. Had to go to Home Depot to get longer screws due to depth of faceframe. If you need to use the plastic spacers and need more than one (I had to use almost all of them), stack them and then run a strip of tape (Scotch, electrical, etc.) around the stack. Much easier to get over the screws when you are mounting. Placed the rear screws first, left them loose and then placed the spacers over the front screws and then tightened down.
Unit arrived well packaged and works as advertised. One of the few remaining units that will actually mount under a cabinet. Wife doesn't want anything sitting on the counter top. If she is happy, I am happy.

Cabinet Lip Too Deep to Install
The installation hardware provided with this Toaster allows it to be installed on Cabinets with a front lip of less than 1" deep. If you call B&D, they can send you screws for cabinets with a 1.5" deep lip. Our cabinets were 1-7/8" - which does a great job of hiding undercabinet lighting.

The 10-32 mounting screws they use are not available in steel longer than 3". I had to order Stainless Steel 3-1/2" screws from McMaster Carr for $10 delivered. Had B&D changed the design a bit they wouldn't need such long and unavaialable screws or they could have simply used 10-24 screws, any good hardware store would have up to 6" long: 4 for $1. I don't mind having to go to the hardware store to make something work. I do mind when I need to special order something that should be readily available, because of bad design. Undercabinet lighting and the deeper cabinet fronts that hide it have been popular for about 20 years. B&D obviously did not consider this need carefully...

New MTN kitchenwareTM Heavy Duty Commercial 3HP High Power Blender Mixer

Could not be happier
Like another reviewer here I was concerned about buying a product where it was hard to find info on the company. (From my research it looks like this is essentially a private label brand handled exclusively by a SoCal based trading company.) Anyway, with glowing reviews from a friend who has owned it for several months of at least once-daily use -- and who stuck with it after testing and returning several "high end" super blender brands -- I took the plunge... Two months later, I have absolutely no regrets.

WHAT I LOVE
- I am such a stickler for quality and good design, and I've loved this blender from the moment I opened the box. The quality and care that went into the packaging, along with an above-average user manual, already made me feel better about my purchase.
- This thing is powerful. I use it for daily juicing of whole fruits and vegetables and it blends/liquefies everything flawlessly. Even rosemary sprigs and blackberry seeds. I barely cut apples in...

one of the best
I have this blender for a month and I make juice and smoothies every day. I was going to buy Vitamix blender but too expensive. I searched on the internet and this blender did not have a review but it said that is a commercial blender.
I love this blender that I can make cold or hot drinks with any kind of vegetables. I can use ice and carrots to make a paste like drink. I have a kitchenaid blender that does not know do anything like that in special with the spinach. I had to chew the spinach in my drink because kitchenaid blender would not blend spinach to a smooth drink.
What I like about this blender is the price for the quality I received. My husband does not like the color that comes only red and everything I have in my kitchen is white except this blender.
The blender did not come with a recipe book but had the manual.
Very satisfied.

MTN 3HP BLENDER
My experience with this blender is not as happy as the ones above. I spent days researching for a powerfull blender at a reasonable cost. I've owned most of the homeowners "bar blenders" over time and wanted THE blender for making frozen drinks. It is an impressive looking blender, large footprint, sturdy, good blades. Now I like thick frozen fruit drinks and with the advertised 3HP this should be a snap. The first use the protection breaker triped in 5 seconds and there was a electrical smell. The breaker self resets in 20 seconds or so, but always the same result. 5 seconds of use then reset untill the drink is made. I have used this daily for 1 month now and have found by setting the speed to full power and using short pulses and adding the ingreedients in specific order it is tolerable. The results are a good smooth blend. I did contact MTN about an exchange feeling this one may be faulty, but as I live outside the US it just was not worth the return postage. So warrenty be damd,...

Foodsaver Portion Pouch 11" Perforated Heat-seal Roll (Makes 2 Bags At a Time) 11in X 16 Ft

Foodsaver Portion Pouch - roll
Wow! I just read the other reviewer's comments and couldn't disagree more. I find these bags to be extremely convenient. I needed something that would allow for single portion storage so I could just grab something from the freezer and take it to work. These definitely fit the bill! In my experience, they made superb single serving packs and they vacuumed, sealed, and stored quite nicely. Nothing all "wonky" or "twisty" about them at all. You do need to handle them a little differently than you would the larger bags, but I find that to be true with all the bags. Depending on what you are sealing, you need to pay attention and help guide them or you'll get a less than perfect result.

Not at all what I expected and not at all reliable.
I've been using Foodsavers for about 15 years now. I get a great deal of use out of it on a very regular basis. So, my need for bags and bag material is great.

Since you cannot find the 6" rolls anymore I thought I would try these. The rolls were so much more practical than buying the cut bags because there is a lot of waste with pre-cut bags. I have no complaint with the size. Each side would have easily accommodated the things that I used to use the 6" bags for so what would have been perfectly fine. I thought 'ok, great, I can vacuum twice as much stuff at a time so what's not to like about that'.

When you put items in each pouch and proceed to vacuum seal it, it gets all weird and twisted up. That kind of killed the whole 'neatness factor' that would allow me to stack them in the freezer neatly and where they would come flying out when you open the door. I couldn't stand them up next to each other in a vertical fashion either. Furthermore, the 'seal'...

Portion Pouch
I find the foodsaver really is as advertised. When I freeze my food, it defrosts to really good tasting food, no freezer burn. Saves a great deal of money.

I find these perforated rolls are really nice for freezing individual portions. I live alone so I like the idea of just being able to take out one portion for myself or if I have company taking just the amount O need.

Timber Rattler Deluxe Knife Sharpener

sharp knife
We like it okay. Didn't have any directions so he doesn't really know how to use it properly.
Maybe you can find some and send to us.

It's the best sharper that I have ever used !!
" The item was much better then I had expected. And it came very quickly in the mail. It's the best sharper that I have ever used; and with it's snake skin decor it's the most attractive knife sharper I've ever seen; it's a real eye catcher, . I plan to display it on my desk so my customers can sharper their knives while their waiting in my office. " :)

Butterfly Desire 3J Mixer Grinder, 110-volt

works well for Indian cooking
I had the older version of the same mixer, lasted me 15 years. I got the new one a month back. The motor is quite powerful. I make smoothies with frozen fruit and it blends very well. Also good for grinding for chutneys and dosa and idli. I was able to use the containers of the previous one which is added bonus. Have not tried the juicer feature. The part of the mixie that sticks out takes up a lot of space. The only issue is the guarantee form which requires that it be sent to India?? I have not sent it, keeping my fingers crossed that it will last a long time.

This product met our expectations
We were looking for a heavy duty Indian mixer Grinder and we preferred this to Preethi and other Indian brands.

Could be better
I would actually rate it as 3.5.
the look of the product is great. But the juicer is already leaking at the bottom and body of the mixer jars is not very sturdy.
Apart from this, the product is good.

Teavana Amandine Tea Decanter

Brilliant Design But Glass Is Too Thin
The general product concept here is fantastic. The metal cap is extremely well made and filters out tea leaves very well. The problem is the glass is extremely thin and fragile. I had this product in use three weeks, then tipped it over and it cracked. Other Teavana carafe / tea makers on Amazon make the same complaint. Come on Teavana read what your customers are telling you. You cannot charge me $50 for a product and then send me some cheap thin Chinese made glass product that is going to crack the first time anything hits the side of the glass!!

The product needs to be redesigned to use a thick tough glass that will stand up to some common usage. Spend some money and deliver some quality, please.

Iced Tea!!
Great product. I was looking for a pitcher to make and store iced tea in the fridge that wasn't made of plastic and that didn't have a plastic top. You know the plastic tops that give off those noxious toxic fumes that coat the top of whatever you put in the pitcher (had a glass pitcher with a plastic top prior to this.) Anyhow, this is a beautiful product that works as designed, the only downside being that it is a bit pricey after tax and shipping, and it would be nice if the glass were a bit thicker, as it does feel fragile. That said, it's the best product on the market if you want to make loose leaf tea (up to 2 litres at a time) and keep it in the fridge without poisoning yourself with plastics. Thanks for offering a great product!

good but very thin glass
it does what it should do. Wish the glass was thicker. I feel like I have to be very carefull with it because the glass is so thin.

Movie Theater Popcorn Bucket Size: 32 oz, Quantity: 50 Buckets

just what i needed.
Was expecting buckets to be a bit larger but they really are the perfect size for my needs. Popcorn oil/butter does not bleed through and since I am frugal, I have even used the same bucket twice in a two day period. Not much else I can say about the buckets except for a really good value for the money and I will most definitely order them again.

Popcorn cups
Just what I was looking for. Small cups that I can sit down and not have butter come thru the cup.

Waring Pro Food Slicer- Professional Quality

dangerous food glide handel
The slicer slices ok, but the food glide handle comes up and off too easily. I have to take one hand and hold the food glide handle down while trying to glide the food thru to the blade. Is this the correct handle for this slicer. FS150 model #. I have used food slicers before and never had this problem. I am almost afraid to use it.I hate to return an item and do not like to complain, but I think this is worth looking into before someone puts their hand into the blade.

It Does The Job
Have had the slicer for a bit over a year. I don't use it every day or even every week. When our freezer gets low on sliced meats we take the stuff we have bought on sale (boneless ham, London broil, rump roast etc), cook it as needed and have a slicing party. The machine produces quality slices, speedily, with relatively little frustration. We like to do our own because most deli meats seem to have been processed with a high salt solution of some kind. A negative: the movable tray that holds the meat does not move smoothly. It seemed to hang up on the rail. My solution was to spray a bit of Pam on the rail as lubrication prior to each use. Problem solved. I also think cleanup is not that easy because of bits of meat that get stuck in tiny nooks and crannies, as well as removing the Pam on the rail!

A good buy, with some reservations
I purchased the "Waring Pro Food Slicer - Professional Quality" knowing, of course, that the "professional" in the title is more marketing hype than reality. After all, how could a true "profesional quality machine" - the name conjures up images of my favorite deli - be sold for $100. It can't, but the Waring slicer has proven itself to be very usable, although the thinness of some the plastic components makes me wonder how long they will last. The only real problem I've had is in cleaning the machine after use. The construction on the rear side of the slider plate (the one to the left of the blade) has some cracks and crevaces that make it necessary to have some fairly fine brushes handy in order to clean the unit. A regular scrubbing brush had bristles much too large. I ultimately settled on a tooth brush and cotton swabs to make sure that nothing that could become a bacteria farm remainded after cleaning. I have sliced two beef roasts (eye of round) and one small five pound...

KRUPS ZY501D50 Stainless Steel Juice Extractor with Variable Speed Settings Juicer, Black

Nice smaller size
I've been into juicing for years. Every day I drink a glass, or two, of fresh juice, and have several juicing recipe books. I have always used my old indestructable Juiceman Jr. but wanted something new, easier to clean, and smaller that I could leave on the counter.

This is small enough when turned sideways to leave on the counter and it doesn't take up as much space as my old juicer. It also is more efficient, producing more juice, and more and drier pulp. What I love is the extra large feed spout, which means less slicing up fruit and vegitables before putting them into this.

You can spend a lot more than this on juicers, over twice as much, but the end result is the same. This gets plenty of juice out, and it's easy to clean, which is an important consideration, as some juicers can be difficult.
The pulp catcher snaps out easily, and rinses out cleanly. While this is dishwasher safe, I find I don't even need to put it in the dishwasher usually,...

Semi-pro Juicer that is out-designed by Breville
Overall, this juicer will meet semi-pro juicing needs. It is an investment in time, as any juicer of this caliber. Cleanup takes exponentially longer than the actual juicing process. You have 6-7 parts to remove and wash.

One recommendation to save time on clean-up is to use a plastic bag around chute where the discarded vegetable mush goes (instead of using the plastic receptacle) that you can toss instead of wash.

Let's talk counter space. We have none, so our juicer lives on a high shelf that makes it a bear to get down to use. For regular use, you definitely want countertop with easy access to the sink. If you plan to use this at least 3 times a week, it deserves a spot on the counter - see dimensions comparison below.

Comparison to Breville BJE510XL Juice Extractor which is in a similar class and currently about $50 more on Amazon new or $20 less remanufactured:

Both have good power and ability to pulverize hard and soft...

I'm New to Juicing
I am an inexperienced juicer so I do not have anything to compare this juicer to function or price-wise. I can tell you that my daughter and I just made the best orange juice we have ever tasted and I'm looking forward to our next attempt with apples.

This juicer is relatively easy to set up but takes up a good bit of space on the counter. I have limited counter space so this could pose a storage problem for anyone who has a small kitchen or limited storage space. There are a good many parts to clean after juicing. I have an apartment sized dishwasher and these parts take up the entire top rack. I prefer to just clean everything the old fashioned way.

What I like:
Speed-It takes just a matter of seconds after dropping fruit into the machine to have fresh, ready to drink juice.
Whole pieces of fruit fit into the feeding tube so no cutting, coring or slicing required.
Quiet-Relatively no noise for such a powerful motor. (My hand held mixer makes...

Frabosk - Cappuccino Creamer - 3 - cups

The PERFECT frother!!
This frother is PERFECT!! It makes great foam for cappuccino and it's so easy to use!! Clean up is easy too. I bought this frother after I bought the the Bialetti "Musa" Stove Top Espresso Maker. Now I can make coffee house style cappuccino at home any time I want! Love it!!

perfect foamer
I've had the nespresso auto foamer, kinda ok, but not great. It would foam well about 50% of the time. This thing works EVERYTIME. I heat slowly on low flame, pump it a dozen times when ready and then tap it like in the coffee shop. You HAVE to tap/hit the base on a hard surface, it makes it thicker, I'll look up what the effect is at some time, for now, trust me, it works. Overall awesome, low cost, perfect foamer. Like in the high end coffee shops, bring out your inner barista, do it with a towel over your arm and slight condescension, it brings out the flavéur.

Terrific -- follow the directions, though!
I tried my frother as soon as I got it this afternoon, with mixed results -- I didn't see bunches of creamy foam. This evening I read the booklet that came with it and noticed that there were directions in bold about using COLD or HOT milk, not room temperature. I am certain that my milk (2% fat milk) was not the right temp earlier. I tried pumping cold milk right out of the refrigerator, and I pumped for a good minute. Perfection!!!!! I'm certain I'll enjoy this for many many cups of latte, cappuccino, hot chocolate, even chai tea! ;)

Café Valet Black/Silver Single Serve Coffee Brewer, Exclusively for use with Café Valet Coffee Packs

Great Single Serve Brewer
I've actually owned this unit for a year and have been really pleased with it. My first experience with one was in a hotel on one of my many business trips. I was so attracted to its ease of use and compactness, that I tracked one down through the company. With it's durable cord and auto shut off, it's really a commercial grade machine being sold at a consumer grade price. I believe these machines are tested to last for years. Plus, the brewer produces an incredibly smooth cup of high quality, aromatic coffee. (I like Keurig, too, but really miss the aroma.) With the self-contained filter tray, clean up is a whiz. You just slip the tray out of the brewer and toss it. Plus I save money, since the cost per serving is substantially less than my daily Starbucks and K-cups. So if you're not sure, I say go for it. In the end, it was the ease of use and the coffee flavor that sold me. I intend to buy more of these units now that they're available on Amazon since they go anywhere--my...

Cafe Valet Single Serve Coffee Brewer
The coffee Maker works fine but the coffee that comes with it is not very good in my opinion. The coffee is bitter or maybe some would call it acidic. I am a fan of Columbian coffee and the brand I use is smooth. I thought this coffee maker would be nice to have on hand when I only want to make one cup of coffee rather than use the family coffee maker. I would prefer a permanent tray, and I would have liked to use other coffee, which I will try by purchasing empty tea bags and putting in my own coffee. Some folks have tried this and are are happy with the results. The coffee maker is quiet and makes a fairly quick cup of coffee, plus it is small enough to fit in a suit case for travel, take to work, etc. Others may like the coffee that comes with this unit. They do give you enough coffee, with three varieties (regular, decaf, vanilla). I would also like to know what brand of coffee they are using in these tea bag type of pods.

Great little one cup brewer. Ran across this coffee maker in 3 motels while on vacation. Had to have one.

Continental Electric Metallic Red Waffle Maker

I cant make crispy waffles
it's a good product i guess, but I cant get crispy waffles! :c I dont know if it is because the temperature is not hot enought or what else could it be...this wafflemaker does not have a temperature regulator, so it works with only one temperature... maybe thats why waffles came out kind of soft, but if you actually like your waffles soft, well i think this would be okey for you.

Just OK....
This waffle maker is very cute, but doesn't make the most perfect waffles. It takes about 4 to 5 minutes to cook the waffles and when they are done the bottom's slightly burnt. It doesn't appear to cook the waffles evenly. I guess for the price it's ok.

Horrible
Burns the bottom of the waffle while the top stays soggy.
I have bought other products made by this company but this is not worth the money.

PackIt 2 Bottle Wine Cooler, Black

my wine was warm
I bought this in anticipation of a concert at a popular outdoor venue near my house. Popped it in the freezer when it arrived. This was at least 1 week ahead of time! On the day of the concert, I put 2 CHILLED bottles of wine into the Packit. Less than 2 hours later we uncorked a cool bottle of wine. The 2nd bottle remained in the cooler for another 1.5 to 2 hours. This bottle was barely cool. The Packit barely kept the cool for 4 hours. That's a long way from the 10 hours promised! A huge let down!

Works great in summer heat!
I use this every week when taking the family on a picnic to the park. Its a bigger size and has removable insert so it fits a lot of food and doesnt have to be used with wine bottles. Keeps the fruit and yogurt cool for hours, even when it's 90 degrees outside!

Almost perfect
This bag definitely keeps the wine cold while traveling or on a picnic. I just wish there was a divider in the center to keep the two bottles from bumping each other.

Magimix Colored Vision Toaster: Red

Toasty Delicious
It takes a little longer to brown (@5) than I expected. But, I'm not complaining. I really, really like it!

Good Quality
The toaster is heavy so it does not slide around when pressing the panel buttons. Automatic toasting control is good or visibility provides for easy manual release of bread when exactly as you want it. There are two layers of glass panels on both sides to reduce external surface temperatures. Taking a little longer to toast is what sold me. Fast toasting leaves the bread too soft in the middle. This toaster cooks to the proper depth to create the right amount of crunchiness using fairly large slices like Orowheat and PepperidgeFarms bread. Evenness is great. Will hold 2 large slices if slices are placed on edge and it still cooks evenly. The cleanout tray is designed OK. The controls are adequate. A bit pricy but I'm impressed with it.

Beautiful and unique
Easy to use, really does lift the bread, bagel, toaster strudel, high enough to grab with fingers instead of having to use tongs. Sleek looking, cooks evenly and really like the wide one slot - fits everything!

Gloria Jean's Hazelnut Coffee Keurig K-Cup Mini-Brewers, 18 Count

Terribly weak
We love Hazlenut coffee, so we figured that the Gloria Jean version would be great. Boy, were we wrong...... This was the weakest coffee (really slightly tinted brown water) that we have ever tried. After the first K-cup, we tried, the coffee was so weak, I thought that I had done something wrong. And the coffee tasted like hot water. So I made a second cup and watched the coffee as it came out of the Keurig. The last half of the brew was just clear water..... Terrible.

So I grabbed a Green Mountain K-Cup and shook it. I could hear the coffee moving around inside and felt the weight compared the Gloria Jean. No comparison, The Gloria Jean was as light as a feather.

We packed up the rest of the box and sent it back. I don't know what to make of this. Maybe we got a bad batch.

Excellent!!!!!!!
Best coffee I have had in a long time. Hazelnut is my favorite and just ordered some mudslide and swiss almond chocolate...........

Like Hazelnut coffees....
Have tried before. Has nice nutty taste and brews a good cup of regular coffee. Like this one for breakfast.

Koolatron BC10-G Coca-Cola 15-Can-Capacity Bottle-Shaped Fridge

cute, but noisy
I love the design of this cooler. The lid flips open and stores 12 or more cans of pop. The cooler and heater work great. But the fan is too noisy.

cool concept waste of money
I bought this as a christmas gift the cord gets to hot as well as the bottle.
It did cool the soda for a couple of days, but wonder if it is a fire hazard.

Cools to a bit past a luke warm
I have had this for nearly a year now. I live in San Diego and it is nearly always 70 degrees here (40-80 degrees/low-high), meaning that this fridge does not have to work hard to cool things in a hot environment. It will barely keep soda or anything else cold. It appears to drop the temp to about 10 degrees lower than the current room temperature, which is "barely cool" temp. Forget about sustaining anything perishable in one of these, the temp is just not cold enough. I have moved it to different areas in my place to make sure it has sufficient air to the loud fan (and as the other reveiwer noted, the fan is louder than it should be). Also, the power source connection is very tempermental. If the power chord connection is slightly moved, all power goes off. This is a new occurance, but it is so much so that I now throwing this in the trash.

Masahiro Blade Sharpen Double-Side Rough Whetstone #242

The seller cheats
I ordered for Masahiro brand of whetstone [Masahiro Blade Sharpen Double-Side Rough Whetstone #242], but I was sent another brand named Ten Ryu. It came in a box which had the Masahiro brand symbol on it but the whetstone had Ten Ryu name and symbol on it. That's not the product I ordered. I ordered from this seller just because the product had free shipping. I'm really disappointed. I have filed a claim with amazon. Hoping to hear from them and the seller soon.

PS: I had also ordered Masahiro Blade Sharpen Double-Side Fine Whetstone #243 from a different seller. It had a shipping fee and thus I received it earlier than this one. It came in a nice cedar box, good quality and there are no damages. But, #242 whetstone came in a flimsy wooden box.

Follow the instructions
The sharpening stone arrived to my home with no damages. If you follow the instructions on how to prepare the stone the item will properly sharpen any blade. I am very satisfied.

BELLA 13554 Hot Air Popcorn Maker, Red and White

Looks great, but not worth it.
I was really excited to get this. It looks fantastic sitting on my counter. Too bad it sends scorching hot unpopped kernels flying all over the kitchen. It might have popped half of the kernels, but the other half were just blown out :-( Luckily most of them made it into the bowl, but my daughter who was standing near by was burned by a flying kernel. I would suggest not buying this one. I will be returning mine as soon as possible!

Two Thumbs Down
It pops only half the kernels. I followed the instructions, but to no avail. And the kernels come shooting out with the popped popcorn. One hot one nailed me in the eye! I gave it one star because it is cute. It looks like a carnival popcorn stand. That is the only redeeming feature.

Made in CHINA
Do not believe the 'made in usa' description, both the box and the product state MADE IN CHINA.
I gave this one star to not change the overall rating; I will update the stars when I have had more experience with the product.

Better Chef IM149S Cordless Electric Kettle

Love It!!
This teapot had no reviews on amazon when I purchased it. It was a great price so I looked around a bit and found that it was selling on overstock.com for double the price, and had pretty good reviews. This is my first electric kettle, and I have to say that I am really impressed. Seems well made and boils water sooooo fast! Switch automatically turns off when it hits boiling point. Looks good. I really can't say anything negative about it. I am buying a second one for my studio. Love it!

UPDATE 6/16/2011
Kettle is still working great! It gets heated up at least 3 times a day and sometimes more.

Very Cute but outside metal gets VERY hot!
This cordless water kettle is very cute/retro and works great, but just know that the stainless steel is thin and not insulated (why I took off 1 star) so the outside of the kettle gets extremely hot when there is boiling water inside. The black areas of the kettle are a nice feeling plastic and not hot at all. PROS: water boils quickly, there aren't those pesky coils inside (flat inside and easy to clean), the wide handle is is very solid-feeling, and the lid opens nice and wide to fill with water from the tap. I gave this as a gift to my retired parents and they loved it!

Disappointed!
I thought this item would be ideal and needed it to boil water for the teapot. Kettle looks nice and boils very quickly but the top of the handle becomes hot and could burn the hand when lifting. After 2 months of purchase the lid started to fly up just at the boiling point, and has to be turned off manually to prevent it from drying and burning up...very dangerous situation. Waste of money - now I am looking out for a kettle that is safe to use.

Hario Drip Pot Woodneck 240ml

Big Things Come in Small Packages
Yeah, this coffee maker is small. But being the only coffee drinker in my house, it's not a problem! I've been using a french press or Chemex for awhile now. I really thought that the Chemex could not be beat until I brewed with this. It produces a seriously clean cup of coffee and has a reusable cloth filter. I still haven't figured out how long the cloth filter lasts, but I read on various websites that regularly boiling it could have it last from months to a whole year. I keep it in a ziplock bag in the refrigerator between uses. I've used it about a dozen times and the filter has pretty minimal staining.

I cannot stress how essential this (or even a Chemex) is for making iced coffee. This recipe is a must try with the Hario Woodneck. http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/06/10/ristretto-on-the-rocks/
Beware! It DOES use the connoisseur's brewing ratio so if you're used to a weaker, watery cup of coffee you will be in for a caffeine shock. However, this...

Clean cup!
I have a vacuum brewer, a Chemex, a French Press and this little guy and I think this one makes the cleanest cup of all. Takes a few runs to get used to it, but it is a nice addition to my collection.

Wow! Amazing coffee
This setup makes an amazing cup of coffee. A little bit of an extra step but worth it.
Cons: A little expensive but if you like good coffee a worthwhile investment.

Japanese Combination Knife Sharpening Stone K-80

Reccomended Sharpening System
These King Stones are legitimate Japanese Water Stones made in, you guessed it, Japan. They are extremely versitile and are the highest quality stones I have used. However, there are a few more good companies out there. Water stones are true to the craft of knife honing and sharpening and is a useful skill to teach yourself. I highly recommend watching virtuovice (YouTube Name) on YouTube for excellent tutorials on how to sharpen with stones.

The lower grit stones like the 250 and 400 are great for taking out chips in the blades or reprofiling the edge to fit your needs or preferences. As a camper who beats on knifes and axes, I really need this benefit to take out those chips and these stones do so beautifully.

A good stone grit to breach the gab between the lower grits and the finishing stone is the 1000 grit. This will help smooth out the edge and give it some great sharpness. It also makes finishing the edge with a 3000 or 4000 grit stone an easier and less...

Quality Stone
Nice stone for the kitchen. I use the #1000 side to keep my chef's knives razor sharp. Lay the stone on top of a damp towel, sprinkle with water, and working a knife is a breeze.

great stone
i am a line cook so sharp knives are a must. Keeps my 8in Shun sharp. And size makes it easy to carry in my bag

Dog Treat Maker with Decorating Kit

Love this Item
I love my dog biscuit maker but I only paid $8.99 in Bed Bath and Beyond. This is a great way to make healthy treats for your dog and save money.

Dog Treats
This is such a unique and creative way to make doggie treats. I used to use up a lot of energy turning on my oven (propane) making treats before but now this is so much more convenient, fun and little clean-up. I have also been experimenting with my own recipes using the doggie treat maker with great success! My doggie loves the treats and I have shared them with other furry friends as well. This treat maker is the best!

Kids loved it for one day
Little girls love to bake and this is a somewhat good tool for that. Two cousins immediately jumped to use it and may again if I suggest it. Had a problem with the carrying case and the distributor quickly solved the problem for me.

Saeco Aroma Espresso & Cappuccino Pump Machine

Great little machine with a few caveats
I've been using this machine for the past couple weeks and so far I love it! It looks great on the counter, doesn't take up much space, it seems solidly built and I couldn't be happier with the quality of the drinks I've been making with it. I'm a latte/cappuccino drinker so I can't really comment on the subtleties of a good espresso shot but the shots look great, they have plenty of crema and the milk based drinks are just delicious, much better than what I get at the local coffee shops.

I usually don't write long reviews but while researching before I bought it, I found plenty of negative reviews from people who seem to have unrealistic expectations or who didn't bother to do their homework or read the manual.

Things to consider and common complaints:

- This is a single boiler machine, which requires the machine to be primed every time you steam milk. If you don't, it will end up suffering from a premature death due to overheating. You may be able to...

fine machine but not as good as saeco aroma 30013
Fine machine. Brews an excellent shot with good head. Heats up quickly and the durability has been excellent. Steams well but it definitely takes longer than I'm used to. I have this one at work but the 30013 at home which I think is an even better model. Brews and steams much quicker and while the case is the same the push buttons on this one feel less solid than the flip switches on the 30013.

It's not the macine...it is the U.S. service!
I've purchased 3 different Saeco machines and have ownd a La Pavoni espresso maker in the past. I have a home in Italy where the first two Saecos were purchased and a home in the U.S. where I have my third.

I had second thoughts about buying an Italian coffee machine in the U.S. because all of these at one time or another require professional maintenance. Every single one of my 4 espresso machines has had to go to the shop for one thing or another. In Italy, espresso is part of everyday life and there are a lot more of these machines in use and being serviced. My authorized Saeco dealer near my Italian home knows these machines very well and always provides expert service.

My U.S. machine recently stopped providing enough hot steam to froth milk properly. I contacted Saeco USA and was given a warranty number and instructed to send the machine to their Livermore, Californa shop. I did so and in about a week the machine arrived back at my home. When I...

Keurig K-Cup Celestial Seasonings English Breakfast Tea, Regular, 18-Pack

This is a very nice strong cup of tea!
We have usually always been a little disappointed in how the tea k-cups turn out, but not this one! Surprisingly dark and really flavorful! Very pleasant surprise and delicious with some honey mixed in! Tastes like black tea and not just hot water. Give this a try as an alternative to coffee.

Rich, full-bodied tea - and I'm a loose leaf snob!
I don't take tea lightly, so I was not prepared to be impressed by pod tea that I couldn't look at before it was brewed. Thankfully, I was wrong! We have a big honking cabinet stuffed to the rafters with loose leaf tea, and are known to wax political on the stuff and nonsense dust they pass off as 'tea bags'. Just shaking the K-cup I knew the tea inside was powdery, not whole leaf, so I had my criticism all lined up.

But wow - it really does brew a nice cup. It's a great choice if you don't want to fuss with filling your own tea bags, loading a steeper, timing the steep, etc. Just pop in the pod and you have a surprisingly full of character cup of perfect breakfast tea. It doesn't have the cheap taste of diner lipton or red rose bagged tea, it's a fine cup that I'd be proud to serve to company. It brews up at just the right darkish-brown shade in our B50 unit, not too watery and not too strong.

Perfect for tea lovers
It's hard to find K-cups for tea drinkers, so I was really happy to find these. Just wish they didn't cost so much.

Sunbeam FRSBWDBK 4-Quart Ice Cream Wooden Bucket

Waste of Money
Very disappointing. I have a small counter-top ice-cream maker, but for Fourth of July, and 20 guests, I wanted to recreate that old-fashioned feel of making a gallon of ice-cream in a freezer for the kids. Since we don't make large amounts of ice-cream on a regular basis any longer, I didn't think paying for the expensive brand was justified. The first time use was not perfect, but overall no complaints except that the wooden bucket just feels cheap. I followed the instructions for cleaning and stored it. Weekend company arrived five weeks later, and we decided to make ice-cream for everyone. I noticed that one of the metal bands around the bucket had come loose, but thought it was a small issue. The canister was inserted with the ice and salt and loaded with the ice-cream mixture. Everything was set but the motor wouldn't fit. It slid into the first slot, but you couldn't pull it down to latch it because the bucket had shrunk so far! Someone had to stand there holding the other end...

Bucket good, motor not
The bucket looked nice and never leaked, not even during seasoning.
A plastic gear broke in the motor the second time I used it so I returned it for refund.

Perfect
Perfect item. Works as indicated. Durable and authentic. Would recommend for anyone wanting to make homemade ice cream. Love this item.

Tri Sales Marketing GN000006 Genius Speed Food Slicer - As Seen On TV

Beware - this is NOT the Genius Speed Slicer Plus
Unlike the previous reviewer, this is NOT the same product as the Genius Speed Slicer Plus that is sold on QVC. The description of the item on Amazon.com was sparse at best. After reading the previous person's review, one could only assume that the better deal was on Amazon.com, so I ordered it ($17.95 plus $5.99 shipping). However, upon receipt of the item, it was not the same. For one, there is no "kick-stand" as is on the Speed Slicer Plus. That may not be significant to some people, but that is helpful during the food prepping when the storage container isn't needed. I contacted the seller, who was very prompt in responding to my email. I thought perhaps the kick-stand was just missing. He said there is no kick-stand with this unit, and one is not available. He agreed to accept the return, of course for the purchase price only. I'm giving it 3 stars because I suppose it works as advertized. The best price is often with Amazon.com, but in this instance, this is not the...

Buy it here
I just purchased this exact slicer from a TV shopping channel at almost twice the price it is offered here, it taught me to check Amazon before I make any purchases anymore! Now onto this slicer, it works absolutely perfectly. It makes beautiful slices of just about anything and when the dicing blades are engaged you can make nice small to medium dices of onions, potatoes etc. I am in love with how well this works, so much better than my expensive stainless German import that I needed for my work. The fancy expensive one doesn't work half as good as this one does!

Not As Advertized - QVC has the real deal!!!
I agree with a previous reviewer; details on products are often missing or deceptive. I would suggest calling the retailer and getting an e-mail from them confirming details. If they cannot give them, avoid the seller. There's nothing in this box that measures 4"H. x 5"W.x 10"D except the box containing the product (even those measurements are a little off). The measurements of the slicer are: 1-9/16"H. x 3-1/2"W. x 11"L (including the handle for holding the tool while you use it). The slide width your tomato, etc., needs to fit in is only 2-3/4" wide. A lot of veggies will have to be cut down first in order to fit the slide area. This is a mini-slicer, not the full-size tool as I expected from the measurements given. Now that I've paid $24.81 (inc. S&H), I see the price has been cut to $11.00, a more accurate value. If Tri Sales Marketing doesn't adjust my purchase accordingly, they'll be on my "avoid" list. It's truth in advertising that wins repeat customers. I should have gone...

Deni 8266 Pfoa-Free Electric Skillet, 12 by 12-Inch, Red

3rd time is a charm!
It took 3 times to receive an unbroken, working Deni skillet (thank you Amazon for standing behind the products you offer). So far it is the best operating electric skillet I have used since the 70's. Beautiful, wonderful product. Thanks!! Barbara

My experience with the Deni 8266 Pfoa-Free Skillet
I was a little disappointed to see that the pan is actually a rust color, instead of red, however the color was a minor issue for me. The bigger issues that I have with the pan have to do with cooking in it. After just a few uses, I noticed that there was a dark ring in the bottom of the pan, caused by the heating coil. The dark ring doesn't go away, which detracts from the beauty of having a rusty colored electric frying pan instead of the typical black one that other manufacturers sell. You should also be aware that the pan heats unevenly. Food sitting on the coils cook more quickly, so if you don't continually stir the food, you end up burned food near the coils. Beyond it's flaws, the pan (including handles and temperature control/power cord) and glass cover/knob feel sturdy, and it's Pfoa-free. I don't think I'd buy it again, unless they can improve the heating coil issues.

Looks good in the picture
Well the paint on the skillet looks like it was brushed on. There are drips throughout the pan and variations in color. The heating element or thermostat must be very low quality as the temperature fluctuates during cooking. Overall a poor product. Probably should give it a 2 star but it is kinda red and it is electric so 3 stars.

West Bend 53783 1-3/4-Quart Cordless Water Kettle, Black

lifesaver!
If your an expat or just an anglophile and you are left wondering, "Why doesn't America embrace the electric kettle?!" then this is the item for you. Sleek and aptly priced.

I don't know why you'd pay around $50 for something that just heats water... brand loyalty? I wouldn't pay the extra $15-$30 just for the flat metal plate that the Braun or Philips has. (The West Bend kettle has a metal coil to heat up the water: Yes, you have to clean the coiled versions, but it's exactly the same as cleaning out a coffee maker... white vinegar once in a blue moon. Hey, the Brits and the Irish don't mind the coil, why should I?)

The stouter version of this I think is too small, unless you live alone and don't drink that much tea/coffee/cocoa. Between us, my brother and I drink six to eight cups of tea a day, plus hot cereal on top of that and this kettle is more than sufficient (1.7 liters).

Some more good things:
It turns of automatically after it comes to a...

Just ok
Given the price this Kettle works ok, but:
- it fails to shut off quite frequently, when boiling point is reached (which is why I ditched my old el. kettle)
- it doesn't shut off, when you take it off the base (so you put it back empty and it's trying to boil the little water left inside)
- you have to fit it onto the base (better models can be put on 360 degrees).

If you wanna use this a lot, get a better one.

Update: Yesterday I started boiling a quart of water and went to do something else in the mean time. Of course I forgot about my water. When I returned to the kitchen, the kettle had shut off - but only after a full quart of water had evaporated :(

Doesn't shut off
I was recently traveling in New Zealand and every where you went (hotels, RV's, etc) had an electric water kettle. This was great and I really appreciated the automatic shut off, because my boyfriend keeps burning up our tea kettles. So I saw this one, read the reviews and decided to get it. I am so disspointed. The kettle heats water great, BUT the automatic shut off doesn't work at all. This is something that a few other reviews mentioned, so I am sending it back. I do not recommend getting this model.

KRUPS XP4600 Silver Art Collection Pump Espresso Machine with KRUPS Precise Tamp Technology and Stainless Steel Housing, Silver

This machine only lasted me 2 years but...
10/2013 - I'm writing again (after 2 yrs of purchase) to say this machine has fallen apart! 1)The function switch that selects the shots and the frothing, has broken. Either the plastic switch or the rubber coated "axle" that it's supposed to turn is stripped! Also, 2)the filter holder handle just cracked completely, rendering this machine useless. If yours starts to crack, quickly ask for a new one because it will crack in pieces!

I called Krups customer service to ask what could be done (as my user's book said I only have a 2 year warranty, which is about over). The rep said not to worry and she'd send me a prepaid shipping label for me to ship my coffee maker to their service center for repair.

Aside from the inconvenience of having no coffee maker for who knows how long, if they fix my machine, I'll be pleasantly suprised and will change my review again. (BTW, the new frother they sent me a year ago has worked perfectly.)

12/2012 - I'm...

Makes great tasting espresso and lattes even if it's not "professional"
I wanted to replace my recently non-working Starbucks Sirena(made by Saeco)and I did not want to spend more than I spent on the Sirena so this was one of the contenders for consideration. I chose it mostly because it said it had programmable buttons (like my Sirena, a feature that I loved)and secondly for the looks. I so dislike the looks of typical square machines. I was surprised how lightweight this machine is compared to any other espresso maker I have had. Most of the ones I had in the past weighed around 25 pounds and this was about 10! It's basically all plastic with fake wood and chromed plastic to make it look metal. I was a little dubious about that part. And, upon reading the manual, I found that the programmable buttons will not stay programmed after it is turned off! What good is that?? So, I was going through the motions of priming it and making my first espressos and steamed milk for lattes and thinking I was not happy with this machine, so far. BUT, the espresso was...

The Most Beautiful Espresso Machine, Works Great!
My Starbucks bill gets high so my husband bought me this machine as a gift. I used to own De'Longhi EC155 15 BAR Pump Espresso and Cappuccino Maker a while and died less than a year. It's the most beautiful looking machine, so my kitchen looks amazing for just having this unit. It's very easy to use and clean. Heats up very quickly. I'm very happy with this gorgeous item in my kitchen and start a day with a Latte which does not cost $5.

KitchenAid KHM53WH 5-Speed Ultra Power Hand Mixer (White)

Dissatisfied with my purchase
The beaters are very thin and hard to keep in place, they came unattached easily. It took me a long time to finish the product. I tried it 3 times so far, not happy. This was my first Kitchen Aid purchase, except for kitchen utensils. I bought it to replace my old Braun, that sadly was left behind when moving.

Wolfgang Puck 240-Watt Variable-Speed Hand Mixer

Certainly adequate for the price.
So, the spouse's mixer died and she sends me to buy a new one. She wanted one with a retractable cord, but I only found two and one was only 18 inches long. Her dead mixer's cord did not retract the last foot anyhow. This one has a cord about 60 inches and should be quite adequate to reach your outlet. At this point, the mixer has performed as it should. I would presume Mr. Puck does not want to impugn his name be selling nonfunctional items. They all are manufactured in the same country anyhow. This is a low end priced product suitable for the average home cooking needs. Fancy smancy cookers would probably purchase a much more costly line at more than I could afford to spend.
The mixer arrived quite promptly and well-packed.
The only problem I have with the product is that it reeks, as is usual for soft products from the country of origin, of, perhaps, toxic insecticide. The spouse is "airing it out," but that just means that, whatever the substance is, it is getting...

A wonderful appliance. Comes with 2 sets of blades, easy to clean, compact, has it's own case, PERFECTO!
Buy this product because you deserve the best, and stop buying those cheap mixers. This one is compact; has a case for easy storage, and comes with 2 different styles of blades. A very versatile appliance, you can do everything you need to do to mix, blend and Beat It! Just Beat It! This is the mixer that is perfect for apartment living, as well as for those who just want a reliable, basic appliance that is easy to store in a small place. There is nothing to scatter and hunt when all you want to do is mix!!

HOMEIMAGE Electric Egg Cooker for up to 7 eggs - HI-92254

PERFECT !!!
A friend had this egg cooker. I was so impressed I bought one. My adult son was visiting and I made him poached eggs. He loved the unit. I bought him one! I am going to buy one for each of our adult kids for Easter eggs.

The best hard boiled eggs ever, shell comes off better than any time I just boiled in water. Every single time. Perfect .
The best hard boiled eggs ever, shell comes off better than any time that I just boiled them in water. Every single time. Perfect every single time, so much easier to just pull off the shell, than pick it off in tiny pieces like when you boil in water. I give my dog a hard boiled egg every morning, and I love them in my salads, so I go though a lot of them. I could not be more pleased.

Nice egg cooker for price
Very nice little egg cooker. Don't bother poking hole in egg as it really doesn't help much and more often than not the egg oozes out of the shell during cooking, either that or you break the shell during the poking part. Alarm is LOUD and will wake small children in the next town ;^)

Lentek TCFD-05 Total Chef 5-Tray Food Dehydrator

Good budget dehydrator!
Pros
- 5 trays hold a lot of food
- Fairly quite so it doesn't interfere with daily living
- Very easy to use (only an on/off switch)
- Instructions contain lots of recipes and detailed drying information
- Low cost
- Good durability (I've had mine for about 4 years and it works as good as the day I got it)

Cons
- Heat circulation is not even from top to bottom (you have to rotate the trays every few hours to keep the dehydration between trays consistent)
- No temperature settings for custom drying levels and times
- Power cord is only a couple feet long (fine if you have counter space where the power outlet is)

As a final note, I haven't used this unit more than 10 times. I have always had good results and the unit does exactly what it's supposed to. I would call this a beginner level dehydrator and now that I've had some experienced with dehydrating, I think I would purchase a more advanced model. My dehydrator is...

Dirt Devil 08210 Scorpion Turbo Vacuum Cleaner

Stay Away From the Scorpion
Dirt Devil M08210 Scorpion Turbo Bagless Hand Vacuum
I have yet to find a task which this hand vac can handle. The crevice tool cannot pick up and retain a tiny cracker crumb yet along anything bigger. I purchased the vac for upholstery and stairs, neither which it can handle. The write up says it cleans pet hair...not really. You would be better off with a wist-broom.

Great vacuum for dorm room use
This is a good little vacuum for small enclosed places like cars or dorm rooms. Suction is more than enough and it has withstood the test of time.

An excellent buy.

Useless
This is a useless vacuum. I was surprised to find this product incapable of vacuuming the basic dirt. The "turbo" brush doesn't work. The brush has no motor, and is only moved by air, so once you place the end on to a carpet, the brush stops spinning.

Quicksteam Warm Moisture Humidifier for Medium to Large Rooms, White

Not for hard water
The Honeywell 330 warm moisture humidifier is built upon a previous model that used pads to trap the minerals contained in tap water. The 330 doesn't have pads, the mineral deposits collect directly on the heating element and you will need to shut the unit down for a day to soak in vinegar so as to disolve SOME of the minerals deposited there. And, if you let the mineral deposit build up too far, the unit will shut off.
Unless Honeywell has had one of those disasters were one of their factories leaked toxic chemicals in to the environment killing thousands of people, then this model "upgrade" would count as one of the stupidest things that they have ever done.
